12 Steps from a Buddhists Perspective
Please come and join Gepe Z., for a weekend of Fellowship, Meditation, and Discussion of the 12 Steps as they can align with Buddhist teachings, the weekend of March 28-30, 2025, at the wonderful Wilson House in East Dorset, Vermont.
The Dalai Lama says, “be a Christian; practice Buddhism”. Regardless of how you think of a Higher Power or no higher power, Buddhist teachings are a very practical and accessible way to improve the quality of a 12 Steppers’ Sober journey.
We’ll “translate” the Steps, Traditions, Slogans, and Concepts into similar Buddhist teachings, like the 4 Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, and the Five Precepts, among other things. The similarities between this 2500-year-old tradition and our 90-year-old tradition are quite profound.
This retreat is for everyone, from those who have never explored Buddhist thoughts, to advanced Yogis who finally got clean, sober, and (hopefully), sane through the 12 Steps.
We’ll start on Friday night after the AA meeting and go until around noon on Sunday. Join us and deepen your 11th Step and expand your language(s) of recovery.
